Barb Howard is an author, editor, creative writing instructor and workshop facilitator. Before receiving her MA in creative writing from the University of Calgary she worked as a lawyer in Calgary.

Barb won the 2009 Writers' Guild of Alberta Howard O'Hagan award for short story. Her work has been published in anthologies and periodicals across Canada including Grain, The New Quarterly, The Dalhousie Review, Room, Alberta Views and Canadian Lawyer.

Her book-length works include Notes for Monday (a novella), Whipstock (a novel), and The Dewpoint Show (a novel for young adults). In the spring of 2012 a collection of Barb's short stories will be published under the title Western Taxidermy.

Barb has lived in Bragg Creek, Alberta since 1993.
